FAQ
What is BrightHire and how does it work?
BrightHire has two offerings: BrightHire Interview Intelligence, and our newest product, BrightHire Screen-an AI interviewer that can be used on its own or alongside Interview Intelligence for even greater impact.
Together, they form an AI-powered hiring platform that helps talent teams run better interviews, make more consistent decisions, and improve both quality of hire and hiring efficiency.
BrightHire Interview Intelligence helps leading talent teams elevate every step of the interview process. It includes tools for interview planning, live interviews, structured AI interview notes, and end-to-end interview intelligence that helps optimize your entire hiring process over time. The platform also includes a growing fleet of AI copilots and agents that guide interviewers, summarize responses, and surface insights across roles and pipelines.
BrightHire Screen automates first-round interviews with an asynchronous AI interviewer agent. Each screen is conducted by a configurable agent that asks the same structured questions, and scores or summarizes responses using your custom rubrics-so you can identify top candidates faster, more fairly, and without extra manual work.
Our hiring software integrates seamlessly with your Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and existing recruiting tools, so your team can work exactly where they already do-with all your interview data in one place.
What are BrightHire’s pricing and packaging options?
BrightHire offers flexible plans designed to fit the needs of modern recruiting teams-whether you’re scaling usage across a few recruiters, an entire function, or a global enterprise.
BrightHire Interview Intelligence is available in three tiers (Recruiters, Teams and Enterprises), all of which include core capabilities like ATS integration, interview planning, AI-generated interview notes, interview insights, enterprise-grade security, and dedicated support. BrightHire also has the deepest ATS integrations in the interview intelligence category-ensuring a seamless experience across tools like Greenhouse, Workday, Slack, and Zoom. What varies between tiers is the breadth of included AI agents and copilots, and the sophistication of features designed to support complex hiring needs at scale.
BrightHire Screen-our asynchronous, voice-based AI interviewer-can be purchased on its own or paired with BrightHire Interview Intelligence. When used together, screening interviews and live interviews sit side by side in a unified system. They share the same interview rubrics and planning infrastructure, and feed into a single stream of structured, actionable insights. This connected experience delivers the greatest efficiency and value, and allows teams to close the loop across the full hiring process.

Does BrightHire integrate with our ATS and tools?
Yes. BrightHire is built to meet your team in their current hiring workflow-with seamless integrations for the tools you already use.
We integrate with leading Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) like Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, and Workday, as well as your team’s video conferencing platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and your collaboration tools like Slack and email.
These integrations ensure interviews are captured and accessible right where your team works and enabling transcripts, summaries, and structured insights to show up directly in your ATS. There’s no need for recruiters or hiring managers to change tools or adopt new workflows.
How does the AI interviewer work?
BrightHire Screen is our AI interviewer that automates first-round screening interviews-helping teams consider more candidates, more fairly, without adding manual work.
Recruiters select which applicants to move forward, and instead of conducting the screen themselves, candidates are invited to complete a two-way, async interview led by a configurable AI agent. Interviews are conducted via voice or video, using structured questions uniquely defined by you that align with your team’s rubrics and evaluation criteria.
Each interview generates ranked, structured output-transcripts, summaries, and rubric-based scores-that your team can review directly in your ATS, helping you identify top candidates faster and with greater consistency.
BrightHire Screen can be configured in minutes using your existing job descriptions, rubrics, and interview plans-especially when used alongside our core platform. When screening interviews and live interviews live side by side in one system, your team gains complete candidate context across the entire hiring process. This unified dataset enables deeper interview insights and helps you continuously improve how you hire.
How does BrightHire support a fair, flexible candidate experience?
At BrightHire, one of our core values is to put candidates first-and that principle shapes how we build every product. Our mission is to give every person the hiring experience they deserve, and we design every part of our platform to make the process more consistent, transparent, and fair.
For live interviews, candidates join just as they would traditionally-no new platforms or workflows required. Behind the scenes, BrightHire supports interviewers with real-time tools and structured guides, helping them stay focused and avoid repetitive questions-so every conversation feels more intentional and efficient.
We also help keep candidates informed and in control. Interview reminders are automated, and candidates can easily opt out of recording if they choose. In practice, fewer than 1-4% opt out-and many candidates notice the difference when interviewers are more prepared and engaged.
With BrightHire Screen, candidates complete an async AI-powered interview on their own time. While on average, only 1 in 10 applicants typically gets to a recruiter screen, BrightHire Screen opens the door to more candidates-replacing resume scans with structured, consistent interviews that evaluate everyone fairly using your team’s rubric.
We’re committed to the responsible use of AI in hiring, guided by principles of fairness, transparency, privacy, and human oversight.
How does BrightHire help improve hiring quality and efficiency?
We combine structure, insight, and automation to help talent teams make smarter, faster hiring decisions-improving both quality of hire and operational efficiency.
BrightHire captures the full context of every interview-screens, live conversations, and debriefs-and transforms it into a system of action that supports your team at every step. With structured interview plans, AI-generated notes, and interview insights, BrightHire helps reduce manual work and inconsistency, so your team can focus on evaluating the right candidates and moving quickly.
Built on insights from millions of real hiring conversations, BrightHire is designed to create and scale what has been proven to work-bringing consistency, clarity, and speed to every interview and every decision.
In a study of more than 25,000 candidates, companies using BrightHire saw a 28% increase in pipeline efficiency, 27% fewer interviews per hire, and a 19% reduction in candidate withdrawals.
Talent teams at Zapier, Tekion, Charlie Health, and Canva have all seen significant impact with BrightHire-scaling structured, high-quality hiring across their organizations.
How does BrightHire protect interview data and ensure compliance with privacy and AI laws?
Security and compliance are a top priority at BrightHire. We’re fully SOC 2 Type II certified, GDPR- and CCPA-compliant, and built to meet the evolving regulatory needs of enterprise hiring.
We give organizations robust control over their data, including role-based access controls, customizable data retention policies, consent-first workflows that notify candidates about recording and allow them to opt out. Opt-in consent flows are also available where required by geography or internal policy.
We ensure compliance with laws and regulations related to the use of AI in hiring, both in the U.S. and the EU. BrightHire uses AI to support features like interview summarization, job description analysis, and talent insights-not to automate or replace human decision-making. Hiring teams always remain in control, and our AI is used only as one of several inputs in the hiring process. We do not use AI to evaluate video, and we never use customer data to train third-party models.
BrightHire Screen helps teams run fair, compliant AI interviews. Every candidate gets the same structured interview that is defined by your team, then AI applies company-defined rubrics to ensure candidates are evaluated consistently and fairly.
As part of our broader commitment to fairness and accountability, BrightHire engages independent auditors annually for bias testing and to assess our AI governance and platform and ensure they align with regulatory requirements and ethical best practices.
How common is interview recording, and how does BrightHire handle it?
Recording interviews is widely adopted, and a powerful way to reduce bias and improve hiring outcomes. It enables teams to revisit conversations, apply consistent criteria, and make more informed, equitable decisions.
BrightHire’s clients include many global and public companies who have conducted millions of interviews worldwide using our platform-helping ensure a more structured, transparent hiring process at scale.
We use a consent-first approach to recording, giving candidates clear notification and the ability to opt out. Interviewers can also control recording settings. For enterprise organizations, we offer configurable options like region-specific opt-in consent and custom recording policies tied to your internal standards.
This approach is part of our broader commitment to responsibility in AI in hiring, and is backed by our enterprise-grade compliance and security infrastructure.
What languages and regions are supported?
BrightHire is built for global hiring teams. We’ve proudly supported our customers across five continents (so far!), helping them run high-quality, structured interviews across languages, regions, and time zones.
Our platform supports interviews in 30+ languages, and works seamlessly for both live and asynchronous formats-whether you’re hiring for frontline roles in multiple markets or evaluating global talent for technical or strategic positions.
BrightHire is also flexible when it comes to regional regulatory compliance and cultural standards with configurable consent flows.
