Innovations in UME to GME Transition
The transition from undergraduate medical education (UME) to graduate medical education (GME) has many challenges. The American Medical Association established the Reimagining Residency grant program in 2019 to transform residency training in ways that address the workplace needs of our current and future health care system. This program supports multiple projects working to provide a meaningful and safe transition from UME to GME; to enhance readiness for practice; and to promote well-being in training. This webinar will provide an overview and discussion of three Reimagining Residency projects that address some of the challenges in the UME to GME transition including optimizing the alignment between interested applicants and residency programs, learn how to promote competency-based education across the continuum, and how coaching can enhance the transition to residency
