Science of Skin and Wearable Devices
Description
Manufacturers are doing their part by creating wearable devices that are lighter, smaller, less invasive, and able to collect accurate data in real time. This easily accessible data allows people with chronic conditions to more easily and proactively manage their health. As medical needs throughout the world continue to grow, and as more people strive to "hack their health", the wearable device market will need to further evolve to keep pace with need. A critical component to unlocking innovation is adhesive technology. Whether they're adhering devices to skin or different device components together, adhesives are a critical factor in a successful device design. They provide solutions to design challenges, interact with other device components and help protect the user's skin from harm. In order to understand where specific device components, like adhesives, need to innovate, we must first look at the wearable medical device market as a whole to anticipate where it's going and what will be needed.
