During the Second World War, the “Make Do and Mend” attitude meant that families were resourceful when it came to salvaging scraps and making the most out of what they had. Today, often motivated by concern for the environment, there is renewed interest in reducing waste. Join us for an introduction to zero-waste living with Valerie Leloup, the co-founder of NU, a zero-waste grocery store in Ottawa. Museum historian Dr. Melanie Morin-Pelletier will share more about what home life was like during the Second World War.
