Dr. Joan Y. Reede
Dean for Diversity and Community Partnership, Professor of Medicine, Professor of Society, Human Development & Health @Harvard Medical School and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health
Dr. Reede is Harvard Medical School’s first Dean for Diversity and Community Partnership, responsible for the development and management of a comprehensive program that provides leadership, guidance, and support to promote the increased recruitment, retention, and advancement of underrepresented minority faculty. She also serves in a number of other positions, including Faculty Director of Community Outreach at HMS, Professor at HMS and at Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and Assistant in Health Policy at Massachusetts General Hospital. While at HMS, Joan created more than 20 diversity and leadership-focused programs, including founding the HMS Minority Faculty Development Program and the Biomedical Science Careers Program. Before joining Harvard, she served as the medical director of a Boston community health center and worked as a pediatrician in community and academic health centers, juvenile prisons, and public schools.
Dr. Rola Kaakeh
Chief Executive Officer @Salus Vitae Group
Dr. Rola Kaakeh is the CEO of Salus Vitae Group. She is a fellowship-trained, licensed pharmacist with over thirteen years of experience in various settings. She teaches at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and is also affiliate faculty at the Northwestern University Institute for Global Health and Institute for Public Health and Medicine. She advises organizations globally on health system development, and has engaged with various institutions within the public and private sectors, non-governmental agencies, universities, startups, and professional associations. She has received a number of awards and is actively engaged with the community and the profession. Dr. Kaakeh started university at the age of 10 as a gifted child, holds a Doctorate in Pharmacy with a minor in Organizational Leadership from Purdue University, and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Health Services Research from the University of Michigan.
