As the African Union (AU) strives toward ensuring Africa’s health security and economic recovery, there has been a sharpened focus on Africa’s actions toward human resource capitalization for health. In February 2022, at the 35th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the AU Heads of State, H.E. President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa and the AU Champion for COVID-19, successfully proposed the establishment of the AU Health Workforce Task Team to meet the human resource needs of this moment.
Please join the AU, the Africa CDC, Seed Global Health, and Amref Health Africa at Skoll World Forum to share the concept behind the AU Health Workforce Task Team at our event titled Africa Leads the Way: A Compact for a 21st Century Health Workforce.
Framed as a compact, the African-led framework will harmonize governments and partners towards a single vision that is jointly executed, ensure the critical longer timelines required for results in this sector, and create accountability and results through alignment of vision, resources, and comprehensive, dedicated measurement that defines equity and progress.
