The local church remains a cornerstone of just about every town and community in North Carolina. Whether from a church, synagogue, temple, mosque or another place of worship, religious leaders remain some of the most respected and influential members of society. Faith communities play an important role in shaping opinions and behaviors, as well as maintaining a physical presence where people gather on a regular basis.
Since 2009, Partners in Health and Wholeness have worked with more than 500 communities of faith. Across NC, congregants are doing good work in an effort to prevent and lessen the impact of chronic illness. Through initiatives focusing on healthier eating, more active living, smoking prevention and cessation, and caring for mental health issues, churches are doing amazing things in their congregations and communities. Learn about some of these initiatives and some tips on engaging with this powerful ally.
