Black Lives Matter and A Response in Public Art
Join us for a conversation on Tuesday, June 30 from 11 AM – Noon (ET) with artist Jammie Holmes and Hyperallergic writer and editor Dr. Seph Rodney as they discuss Black Lives Matter and a response in public art. Opening remarks given by Brooke Kamin Rapaport, Deputy Director and Martin Friedman Chief Curator, Madison Square Park Conservancy.

On May 30, Holmes created a public demonstration consisting of airplane banners in the skies above five American cities carrying the last words spoken by George Floyd. Hear how artists are utilizing pavement, fencing, and the skies for new work in response to national and international protests through a movement focused on lethal injustice and systemic racism.

After registering, you will receive an email confirmation with instructions on how to join the event. Please note that this event has limited capacity.
