Tony Kirkham retired from the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, at the end of July 2021, after over 40 years’ devoted service to the management of its trees.
In 2009 Tony was awarded the Associate of Honour by the RHS for his services to horticulture. During his time at Kew, he developed the arboretum into the world-class venue it is today, caring for over 14,000 specimens, with 150-200 more trees planted each year. He is an inspiring lecturer and passionate advocate for the importance of planting trees to the environment. He was awarded the MBE in 2021.
