James Hewetson-Brown

He has spent his working lifetime in agriculture and is a graduate of Seale Hayne Agricultural College. His strong interest in biodiversity led to the development of the concept of Wildflower Turf in 2003. Since then, James has conducted a significant amount of research into the establishment of wildflower landscapes in the built environment. James has a practical and pragmatic approach to his wild flower thinking. From gardens to civil engineering, he has helped develop many wild flower spaces giving him a unique insight into the realistic requirements for successful results. He is the author of the book ‘How to make a Wildflower Meadow’ and conducts Open Days at the Wildflower Turf Ltd HQ in North Hampshire and regularly gives presentations and talks on the subject to a wide variety of audiences.
Joe Franklin
Ecological Consultant
Joe is an ecological consultant with close to two decades of professional practice. His focus is the delivery of biodiversity and environmental net gain, through scheme design and habitat creation/restoration. Joe’s role within project teams is to be a catalyst for cross discipline innovation with respect to net gain and natural capital approaches. He is a member of various industry groups, including the CIEEM Environmental Net Gain Working Group and the Environmental Industries Commission Natural Capital Task Force.
