Jews For Racial & Economic Justice has just released a unique resource on anti-Semitism, specifically tailored to the needs of our movement partners on the left.
To celebrate the release and share some of the key learnings of “Understanding Antisemitism,” we will host a webinar on Monday, November 20th at 1:00PM (EST). The webinar will feature some of the authors of the paper in conversation with members of the JFREJ community and leaders from the racial justice movement.
Beginning even before the 2016 election, we have witnessed a surge of blatant, anti-Jewish expression in broad daylight: neo-Nazis marching in Charlottesville, swastikas spray-painted on playgrounds, hate speech hurled at Jews in public, cemeteries desecrated, and bomb threats targeting Jewish congregations and community centers. While most Jews are not facing the brutality of deportation, mass incarceration and other forms of state violence targeting our neighbors, we feel keenly aware that anti-Semitism is deep within the DNA of the white nationalist right and needs to be confronted alongside racism, xenophobia and islamophobia.
This need is what motivated JFREJ to spend this year authoring a comprehensive paper on anti-Semitism specifically tailored to the needs of our movement partners on the left. How fitting that this hopeful labor of love — created by members of our community — has been released in November, just as we are assessing the anniversary of our painful election.
