Prescribing Antivirals to COVID-19 positive patients

While at present in WA most COVID positive patients are experiencing mild to moderate symptoms, there are some who are at risk of severe disease that might benefit from the newly available antiviral treatments.

GPs are being called on to make decisions regarding the appropriateness of these medications to treat COVID-19, based on the patient’s individual risk for disease progression, medical history, current medicines, age and COVID-19 vaccination status. Join us to find out more about the indications and contraindications for the new antivirals, the GP's role in assessing patients and prescribing these treatments, as well as the pathways for accessing them.
