Dr Donald Burke
President @Booth University College
Don Burke has been teaching Scripture at Booth University College since it opened in 1982. As a Salvationist, he has been thinking about how his Wesleyan-Salvationist heritage shapes the way he reads and understands the Bible. In this presentation he draws upon this reflection to make several suggestions about how Salvationists should interpret the Scriptures. Dr. Donald Burke is Professor of Biblical Studies at Booth University College. In addition to his teaching, he has written extensively for Salvation Army publications for which he received successive Canadian Church Press awards for the best Biblical interpretation (2018 and 2019). Don contributed the commentaries on Joel and Amos to the Wesley One-Volume Commentary on the Bible (2020). In 2019 he published Nativity: Reflections on Matthew’s Story of Jesus’s Birth and Early Life.
