Join Accelerate Yale for a conversation with Kathryn Finney ‘00 MPH, investor, innovator, and tech trailblazer. Kathryn is the founder of The Doonie Fund and digitalundivided, and a former General Partner in The Harriet Fund, the first venture capital fund focused on Black and Latinx women founders. She will share her perspectives on the need for more Black and Latinx women in tech, her work to create pathways to success for these founders, and why it is smart to invest in this untapped talent pool.
Wendy Maldonado D’Amico ‘93 and Gary Stewart ‘96, ‘99 JD of Accelerate Yale and Yale Angels will lead the conversation and Q&A. This event will be recorded and shared with registrants.

In April 2020, Kathryn founded The Doonie Fund, which provides microinvestments to over 1500 Black women-owned businesses. An Echoing Green Global Fellow and Eisenhower Fellow, Kathryn founded digitalundivided in 2013 after selling her company, The Budget Fashionista, one of the first lifestyle blogs. Digitalundivided (DID) is a social enterprise that fosters economic growth through the empowerment of Black and Latina women entrepreneurs, and it has raised over $100 M in investments. She is a former General Partner in the Harriet Fund, the first venture capital fund focused on Black and Latinx women founders. Her pioneering research, “#ProjectDiane”, drew widespread buzz for disrupting the dialogue around women of color and tech entrepreneurship. Read more about Kathryn at kathrynfinney.com. Wendy Maldonado D'Amico '93 (Director @Accelerate Yale & Yale Angels) Wendy Maldonado D’Amico ’93 works at the Yale Alumni Association (YAA) on #50WomenAtYale150, a celebration commemorating the dual milestones of coeducation at the university. She holds a BA in English from Yale University, an MPA from Harvard’s Kennedy School, and an MBA from MIT Sloan. She serves as a member of the YAA Board of Governors, and is a Director for the leadership teams of Accelerate Yale and Yale Angels. Gary Stewart '96, '99 JD (CEO & Co-Founder @The Nest) Gary Stewart ‘96, JD ‘99 is the CEO and co-founder of “The Nest,” a mobile app that could be called “Masterclass for founders.” From 2014-2019, Gary was the Director of Wayra UK, a corporate accelerator backed by Telefonica (O2). From 2010-2014, Gary was an associate professor at entrepreneurship at IE Business School in Madrid and CEO of Wayra Spain. He launched his first start-up in 2005. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Gary worked as a lawyer in the U.S., U.K., and Spain. He graduated magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from Yale College and was the executive editor of The Yale Law Journal at Yale Law School. He is a Governor of the University of East London and has been on the Power List of the most influential black people in the UK. He is a member of the leadership team of Accelerate Yale.
