Jackson Katz, Ph.D., is an educator, filmmaker, author, and social theorist who is internationally renowned for his pioneering scholarship and activism on issues of gender, race and violence. He has long been a major figure and thought leader in the growing global movement of men working to promote gender equality and prevent gender violence.
Sexualized violence is an issue that impacts people of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. Currently, Saskatchewan has one of the highest rates of sexual victimization in Canada. The health implications of sexualized violence are broad as it can negatively influence mental health, substance use, sexual decision making, and the ability to thrive for those who experience it. Through education and leadership, prevention of sexualized violence is possible.
In this webinar, Jackson Katz will explore strategies for engaging youth in violence prevention and bystander intervention.
Free streaming of Katz’s film, The Bystander Moment, will be available the week of November 30 to December 6 through the following link: https://www.mediaed.org/the-bystander-moment-virtual-screening-saskatchewan-prevention-institute/
