Lauri Mälksoo is member of the Institut de Droit International and of the Estonian Academy of Sciences. He has done research on Russia, international law and human rights, including publishing a monograph "Russian Approaches to International Law" (Oxford, 2015) and the edited volume "Russia and the European Court of Human Rights: The Strasbourg Effect" (Cambridge, 2017).

Yu Koizumi's research theme is Russian military affairs and other security-related issues, including space, cyber, and information security. He has experienced several researcher posts in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Diet Library, and Institute for Future Engineering (IFENG). He is the author of four monographs on Russian military and security affairs. His newest book is titled Russian Contemporary Military Strategy (Chikuma, 2021).
