[Orr Group Webinar] Necessities for Attracting and Securing Mega-Gifts
More so than ever before, we are all watching in awe as the world’s mega-philanthropists are making bold investments in impactful nonprofits. The increasing trend of donors making larger gifts to fewer organizations has left many of us scratching our heads, wondering how our organizations can be the recipient of one of these out-sized philanthropic investments.

To address this question, we will be joined by featured speakers, Mindee Barham, Vice President of Development at Grameen America, and Chuck Harris, Chief Development Officer at Blue Meridian Partners, to explore the unique attributes that make an organization “ready” to receive these mega-gifts, and the differing strategies that make attracting contributions of this magnitude possible.

Since its inception in 2017, Blue Meridian has pooled over $2B in philanthropy, predominantly comprised of 8-figure gifts. Grameen America, launched in 2008, has dispersed nearly $2B in micro-loans in their history, and as part of their current $300M campaign has received numerous 7 and 8-figure gifts. Orr Group Managing Director, Craig Shelley, CFRE will host the conversation.

Mindee Barham
Vice President of Development @Grameen America
Ms. Barham joins Grameen America with 25 years of nonprofit and development experience. She has held key positions in fund development at Columbia University, Classroom, Inc., the YMCA of Greater New York, and was most recently the Vice President of Resource Development at the United Way of New York City. Mindee holds a Master of Science in Nonprofit Management from the New School and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Hispanic Studies from Northwestern University.
Chuck Harris
Chief Development Officer @Blue Meridian Partners
Chuck Harris provides the leadership necessary to build and steward Blue Meridian’s relationships with philanthropists and grow the funds available to invest. As a member of the senior leadership team, he also provides strategic support and guidance. He has served extensively on the boards of nonprofit and philanthropic organizations as well as privately held and publicly traded for-profit corporations. Chuck has spoken broadly on the role of capital formation in advancing social change.
Craig H. Shelley
Managing Director @Orr Group
Craig advances the missions of nonprofits by bringing a change-management and entrepreneurial approach to fundraising, strategy, board recruitment and development. In designing and leading solutions for Orr Group’s nonprofit partners, he focuses on diversifying and maximizing fundraising revenues and specializes in designing and managing large scale fundraising campaigns. In addition to driving revenue for Orr Group’s nonprofit partners, Craig actively seeks out and builds new business relationships for the firm, and leads, trains, and mentors staff teams. Craig is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and frequently speaks at conferences and publishes articles on leadership and philanthropy.
