Translating COVID-19 Strategies to Improve Influenza Seasonal Flu Vaccination Efforts
The Immunization Action Coalition (IAC) will be holding two interactive webinars in September to emphasize vigilance in preventing influenza in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The second hour and a half interactive webinar will include the following topics:

• Information to improve influenza immunization for under-served populations and improving vaccine equity
• Public health strategies to reach small communities
• Making a strong recommendation for influenza vaccination this season
• Pharmacists and pharmacies lessons learned for improving vaccine access and vaccine equity for vulnerable populations

These topics will be addressed by speakers:

• Laura Lee Hall, PhD, President, Center for Sustainable Health Care Quality and Equity, National Minority Quality Forum (NMQF)
• Amy Callis, BA, MPH, Principal and Owner, Devi Partners
• Sarah Price, Director of Public Health Integration, National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and Jennie McLaurin, MD, Specialist, Child & Migrant Health, Bioethics, Migrant Clinicians Network
• Mitchel Rothholz, R.Ph, MBA, Chief of Governance & State Affiliates and Executive Director, American Pharmacists Association (APhA)

Following these presentations there will be an opportunity for you to ask your questions. This live question and answer session will include additional experts from the Immunization Action Coalition joining the speakers to answer your questions.

Laura Lee Hall, PhD

Dr. Laura Lee Hall is the founder and president of the Center for Sustainable Health Care Quality and Equity (SHC) at the National Minority Quality Forum. With a vision for sustainable healthy communities in every ZIP code, SHC promotes sustainable healthy communities, especially those with diverse and underserved populations, through the provision of actionable data, research, and engagement/training of clinicians and community leaders. The online toolkit – DRIVE (Demonstrating Real Improvement in Value and Equity) – provides a host of resources related to influenza, COVID-19, and, soon to be released diabetes. Activities focus on adult vaccines, diabetes, heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases, osteoarthritis and chronic pain, and lung and prostate cancer screening. With a PhD from USUHS – the naval medical school – Dr. Hall has conducted post-doctoral research at the NIH and Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Amy Callis, BA, MPH

Amy specializes in strategy, emergency response/preparedness, and SBCC. She focuses on IZ/VPD outbreak communication. At CDC, Amy worked on Ebola, Zika, polio, seasonal/pandemic flu, & lifespan vaccines. She was UNICEF’s communication chief for polio eradication in Afghanistan. Amy has led COVID-19 outbreak control, vaccination education efforts. Amy holds a BA (University of CA, Berkeley) and an MPH (Emory University).
Sarah Price, MSN-Ed, RN

Sarah Price has over 19 years of nursing experience, focused in community and public health. Sarah is currently the Director of Public Health Integration at NACHC. She is also an Adjunct Faculty for Public Health Nursing at Georgetown School of Nursing where she shepherds undergraduate and graduate nursing students through their public health nursing experiences. Sarah was previously a Nurse Care Manager/Director of Nursing for 12 years at Unity Health Care, Inc, a large community health center in Washington, DC. Throughout all her roles, Sarah has specialized in developing, piloting, implementing, and evaluating strategies related to interdisciplinary care services and innovative primary care workflows. She received a BSN from Emory University School of Nursing and an MSN-Education from George Mason University.

Mitch is a pharmacist currently serving as Chief of Governance & State Affiliates for the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and Executive Director of the APhA Foundation responsible for the development and coordination of the organization’s strategic plan/direction, governance and policy development activities, state relations and public health initiatives. He has served in numerous roles as an APhA staff member since 1994. He also serves as Secretary for the Joint Commission of Pharmacy Practitioners. He is a 1984 graduate of the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy, and earned a Masters in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, from Regis University in 2005. He has served as the Executive Director of the Alabama Pharmacy Association and worked in numerous roles for the Florida Pharmacy Association. He has practical experience in community pharmacy, nursing home, hospital, and managed care practice settings.
