Health Policy Grand Rounds: The Impact of Climate Change on Public Health Outcomes
Jonathan Gilligan, PhD, is The Alexander Heard Distinguished Service Professor, Associate Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Vanderbilt University. He is director of Vanderbilt's interdisciplinary Grand Challenge Initiative on Climate and Society.

Dr. Gilliganw will discuss his work on the impacts of extreme heat in South Asia, and will talk about the challenges for policy in responding to the threats global warming poses to health. In particular, public governments at the national and subnational level are failing to reduce greenhouse gases fast enough to avoid dangerous climate change, and many private sector organizations, including businesses and not-for-profit organizations, are stepping up.
