This webinar will highlight the effects of various college readiness supports on student success, highlighting research findings on supports that exclusively provide financial aid compared to supports that combine financial aid with academic resources. Lyzz Davis, Ph.D., senior researcher with REL Midwest, will describe the research on college readiness supports. Specifically, Dr. Davis will highlight a REL Midwest Just-in-Time study conducted with the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, the Indiana Department of Education, and Indiana’s Management Performance Hub that explores the correlation between different types of college readiness supports and early college success. The project sought to answer research questions including how the percentage of students showing early college success vary in relation to whether students received a Pell Grant or a 21st Century Scholarship. Presenters from the Indiana Commission on Higher Education and the Oklahoma State Regents of Higher Education will discuss the 21st Century Scholars and Oklahoma’s Promise programs, two initiatives which provide financial aid contingent upon student academic progress and postsecondary planning in high school.
