The main goal for the Maya Intermediate class is to jump from the widely known conceptual stage in Maya to the complex Architectural design domain. The webinar will start by recalling the basic low poly-modeling skills trough the reproduction and simplification of a widely known Zaha building. In this first part, the basic Maya operations shown in the first class will be fully and quickly recapitulated. As your skills are warmed up you will start the second part of this webinar by learning basic to advanced polygon modeling techniques that are specifically configured to investigate parametric patterns on a mesh surface of your buildings. In the first class, we introduced you to a very methodical way to model trough Maya, in this second class you will be taught how to free-model in Maya while being still in control of your sketch design intention. You will learn how to tame this powerful software trough the best free-modeling techniques.
The class will end with a final building exercise that addresses a site and a speculative brief. In this phase, the design process will mimic the form-finding process that typically occurs in an office that uses Maya as the main motor for form-finding and form refining. You will understand how Maya operates in your design process when facing a design competition or a design brief and how this software enables another level of relation between a new form and a site.
