The History of Photography in Uganda (and its Many, and Complicated, Archives), lecture by dr Richard Vokes
In the framework of our ongoing “Photography and Visual Literacy for Active Citizenship” programme, Dr Richard Vokes will discuss the history of photography in Uganda as well as tell us more about his work with various photographic archives.

His research focuses primarily on the African Great Lakes region, especially on the societies of South-western Uganda, where he has been conducting ethnographic fieldwork since 2000. He has published extensively, including on: development (governance, education, and natural resource management), the history of photography, media and social change and visual anthropology.
