This webinar will explore five key strategies for developing the language and literacy skills of young English language learners in the infant classes of the primary school. These strategies will enhance pupils’ oral language skills, vocabulary, phonological awareness and comprehension in a social, engaging and meaningful manner. They can be used by mainstream teachers in whole class teaching, in in-class support using small groups or in the language support room. It is aimed teachers working in an infant classroom seeking to develop their practice in supporting their young EAL pupils.
