Sara Boettiger
Senior Vice President, Head of Public Affairs, Science & Sustainability @Bayer Crop Science
Dr. Sara Boettiger is SVP, Head of Public Affairs, Science & Sustainability for Bayer Crop Science. Prior to joining Bayer, Dr. Boettiger co-led the McKinsey Center for Agricultural Transformation. She has also served as: Deputy Director at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Chair of the Board of Trustees of the international ag research institute CIMMYT; Senior Advisor at Syngenta Foundation; faculty fellow at Harvard University’s Berkman Klein Center for Internet & Society; advisor to the satellite company Planet Labs; co-founder of several non-profits; adjunct professor at UC Berkeley; and member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Councils. Dr. Boettiger has published in the fields of law, economics and innovation. She has a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from UC Berkeley. Dr. Boettiger is passionate about our generational responsibility to work across public and private sectors to create a more sustainable global agri-food system for the future.
Allen Christian
Head of Open Innovation and Strategic Partnerships @Bayer Crop Science
Allen Christian serves as a member of the R&D Leadership Team and as the lead of Open Innovation and Strategic Partnerships for the Crop Science division of Bayer. Based in St. Louis, Allen leads the team charged with developing and managing strategic partnerships to forward the R&D goals of Crop Science. Allen brings extensive genomic and molecular research, as well as strong leadership experience to his new role. During his 15-year career at Bayer, he has held several roles including leading Seed Production Innovation and sitting on the Product Supply Leadership Team, Genomics Lead, responsible for the DNA, RNA and protein testing of Monsanto’s Biotechnology transgenic pipeline and research and development efforts around high-throughput sequencing. Allen graduated from Colorado State University with a Doctorate in Radiation Physics and Molecular Biology, and from the University of Colorado-Boulder with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.
