Mind the Gap: Tackling Gender Inequality In and Through Science and Innovation

The gender health gap is not a new topic, but discrepancies persist across disciplines. A contributing factor is the underrepresentation of women in research and innovation (R&I) - both as participants and as researchers. This can lead to the development of health tools that are not safe, effective, or accessible for women, which can hinder progress in tackling complex global health challenges. Centered on a summary of DSW’s recently updated Poverty-Related and Neglected Diseases Through a Gender Lens Study, this 90 minute webinar will convene experts to discuss its recommendations, bringing perspectives from their respective fields.

Confirmed speakers include Ms Begoña Lasagabaster, Director for Gender Equality, UNESCO, Professor Francine Ntoumi, Founder and Chief Executive Director of the Congolese Foundation for Medical Research, with a special message from the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Mariya Gabriel.
