As announced by the Australian Government, pharmacists will be among the first to administer initial doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine (SPIKEVAX). Australian Technical Advisory Group now also recommends the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to people aged 12 years and over.
With these recent updates, it’s expected that there will be increased uptake of COVID-19 vaccines in pharmacies. Pharmacies will need to ensure they have an adequate vaccine booking program. Pharmacists should adopt the national vaccine booking system by connecting to the Vaccine Clinic Finder (VCF).
This session will support authorised pharmacist immunisers across Australia to develop knowledge/skills to roll out the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine and ensure your online booking service and appointment availability is listed on the VCF.
People in all states are supported by authorised pharmacist immunisers to safely access the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, relevant vaccine information and access their vaccination via the national VCF.
This webinar will focus on vaccine specific facts, real world experience and practical information in order to ensure pharmacists fulfil the requirements of informed consent and patient education, particularly post-vaccination. The webinar will feature health experts and practitioners with experience in the use of the national VCF and booking system.
This training complements and is not a substitute for the Australian Government COVID-19 Vaccination Training Program, which is mandatory for COVID-19 vaccination providers.
