Security and effectiveness for maritime transport: advanced and innovative processes for digital control and tracking.
Artificial intelligence (AI) and IoT Applications are some of the key versatile technology which undergoes constant development and increases security and effectiveness across the maritime sector: port traffic optimisation, damages detection, Customs clearing procedures, environmental sustainability are some of the positive applications and impacts that these innovative applications bring.
Furthermore the interoperability (and consequent data sharing) among the IT platforms of the players involved in the supply chain is one of the key factors for the EU’s strategy towards the digitalisation of freight transport and logistics processes.
During the session we’ll go through these topics with the presentation of the final results of the CEF funded project SMART-C (Scalo MArotti virtual Corridor) that, using AI technology, virtually extends the Port of Ancona facilities through the creation of a virtual tunnel for the secure transfer of the cargo from the embarking/disembarking areas from/to the Customs Gate.
From a strategic perspective the digitisation, the information sharing across different sources, the integration with the Customs formalities are at the heart of the EU policies to foster the internal transport market. The EU strategic frame and roadmap will be discussed together with the perspective of the players of the maritime transport and logistic chain directly involved in this innovative path.
