Traci Kennedy
Midwest States Strategist @Americans for Nonsmokers' Rights and the ANR Foundation
Traci Kennedy serves as the Midwest States Strategist for Americans for Nonsmokers' Rights and the ANR Foundation. Ms. Kennedy joined the ANR team in 2014 and works in a challenging 13 state territory exclusively on the issue of smokefree air protections. Over the past 6 months, she has been energized by the number of establishments re-opening smokefree and looks forward to working with coalitions to adjust tactics to be relevant in this time.
Primo Castro
Government Relations Director @American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network
As a dedicated public servant for nearly 20 years, Primo Castro has worked to enhance opportunities and resources to numerous communities. While working with the California State Legislature for over a decade, Primo was instrumental in bringing much needed resources to communities from throughout Southern California. He has been able to cultivate relationships, understand, develop and implement policy in government, and give back to his community. Primo is the oldest of four. After his mother died from cancer, he helped raise his younger sister and has guided his other siblings on their educational paths. Primo serves as a Government Relations Director for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network where he is charged with advocating for policies that aim to protect the quality of life of cancer patients and their families. Primo obtained a Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University and a Master’s in Public Administration from Cal State Long Beach.
Tim Gibbs
Legislative and Administrative Advocacy Consultant @Tim Gibbs Consulting
Tim Gibbs has been an advocate in California politics since 2002. Mr. Gibbs has overseen passage of more than 100 local ordinances in the last five years. A sampling of recent successes includes ordinances to prohibit the sale of flavored tobacco products in urban centers like Sacramento, Los Angeles County, Oakland and San Francisco, as well as rural locations like Oroville, Adelanto and Santa Maria. Mr. Gibbs was with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) for 17 years where he was the Senior Director of Government Relations. While at ACS CAN, he helped pass the strongest package of tobacco control bills in a generation. He led field campaigns for multiple tobacco tax ballot initiatives including the successful passage of Proposition 56, the largest state tobacco tax in US history. He is currently an independent consultant who helped pass a statewide flavored tobacco policy in 2020.
