Born in 1963, he devised the Ulyssesground map and wrote The Phoenix Park Murders, telling the tale of a double-assassination that forms a major motif of Ulysses. He has given a series of Bloomsday talks in the Leeson Lounge (where the assassins alighted after their bloody work), and has spoken at the Trieste summer school and the James Joyce Centre. He still hasn’t slogged through the glue of Finnegans Wake, which always needed a fearless editor, but is second to none in his admiration of Ulysses, which he believes still had many secrets to unlock. He is also the author of several maritime books and has led or featured in a number of TV documentaries. He lives at 'the knock out in the park.'
