As public awareness about the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) grows, there have been a number of legislative initiatives within the state of California designed to support the screening, prevention, and treatment of childhood trauma. This one-hour webinar, hosted by the Bay Area Funder Network on Trauma and Resilience, is designed for funders, non-profits, and other organizations interested in learning more about the policy landscape in California related to these efforts. The webinar will provide an overview of relevant legislation, implications for funders, and a preview of what’s on the horizon.
The webinar will include an overview of AB 340 (Trauma screening for children eligible for Medi-Cal), AB 2083 (Foster Youth: Trauma-Informed System of Care), SB 1004 (statewide strategy for monitoring implementation of prevention and early intervention services), and SB 1287 (Medi-Cal: Medically Necessary Services for children/youth under Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment). Speakers will also discuss the All Children Thrive (ACT) program from the Budget Act, which includes a one-time allocation of $10 million to prevent ACEs, counter their effects, promote healing, and foster individual and community resilience.
