This webinar dialogue, which will be part of the 2020-21 Weweni Indigenous Speakers Series, will generate discussion across disciplines and time periods to explore the experience of Indigenous peoples during pandemics. The featured speakers are Dr. Carrie Bourassa and Dr. Winona Wheeler from the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Bourassa will speak about the current response to COVID-19 in relation to the health and wellbeing of Indigenous peoples in Canada. Dr. Wheeler will place the COVID-19 experience in historical context of past experiences of pandemics and epidemics by Indigenous peoples. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Jaime Cidro, Professor of Anthropology and Canada Research Chair in Health and Culture at the University of Winnipeg.
