M. Jane Heinig, PhD, IBCLC
Dr. Jane Heinig is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant on the faculty at UC Davis, in both the Departments of Nutrition and Public Health Sciences, where she conducts research in the areas of public health nutrition, maternal and child nutrition, and infant behavior. She received her PhD in Nutrition Science from UC Davis and has been an IBCLC for more than 25 years. Dr. Heinig is the former Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Human Lactation, is the current Executive Director of the UC Davis Human Lactation Center, and Graduate Advisor for the Masters Degree Program in Maternal and Child Nutrition at UC Davis.
Robin Kaplan, M.Ed., IBCLC, RLC
Robin Kaplan became an IBCLC in 2009 and is the owner of the San Diego Breastfeeding Center, a private practice lactation clinic. Robin completed her lactation consultant training and certification at UCSD and holds a Masters in Education from UCLA. Robin published her first book, Latch: a Handbook for Breastfeeding with Confidence at Every Stage, in 2018 and was the founding host of the Boob Group Podcast. In 2016, Robin started a nonprofit organization, called the San Diego Breastfeeding Center Foundation, which provides scholarships and internships for women of color to become IBCLCs, as well as provides reduced-fee lactation consultations for families with limited access to IBCLCs due to financial and racial barriers. In addition to providing virtual consultations during COVID-19, Robin is also the program manager for the newly updated UCSD Pathway 1 and 2 IBCLC program.
