Cliff effects, the reduction of key public benefits following an increase in earnings from work, are creating challenges for participants in workforce and employment programs. However, solutions to mitigate cliff effects are underway.
The webinar will highlight the latest research on cliff effects from the UMass Boston Center for Social Policy and focus on how research is being deployed for policy and workforce practice. We will review the latest findings on cliff effects in Hampden County, Massachusetts, and discuss tools, strategies, and policies for mitigating cliffs. The webinar will also feature speakers from the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance, Holyoke Community College, On Solid Ground, and Springfield WORKS.
