MetaArchive Cooperative: Sustainable digital preservation through community collaboration
The MetaArchive Cooperative is a distributed digital preservation network hosted by and for memory organizations. Since its founding in 2004, the Cooperative has expanded to include over 50 organizational partners spanning 3 continents. MetaArchive members govern and maintain a secure and cost-effective repository that provides long-term care for digital materials, offering a transparent community-run alternative to preservation solutions that rely on commercial cloud storage. This presentation will discuss distributed digital preservation concepts and how MetaArchive members collaborate to enact them and build their own knowledge and workflows.
