Topic
«Context, Pretext, Subtext»: Tsuyoshi Tane, Catherine Gay, Emanuel Christ
Description
/// ENGLISH FOLLOWS ///
Im Rahmen der Ausstellung «Tsuyoshi Tane: Archaeology of the Future» (17.10.2020-28.2.2021) veranstaltet das S AM einen Dreiervortrag mit Diskussion im Anschluss zum Thema «Context, Pretext, Subtext».
Mit:
* Tsuyoshi Tane (Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects)
* Catherine Gay (GayMenzel)
* Emanuel Christ (Christ & Gantenbein)

–––––
As part of the exhibition «Tsuyoshi Tane: Archaeology of the Future» (17.10.2020-28.2.2021), the S AM is hosting a triple lecture and discussion event on the topic of «Context, Pretext, Subtext».
With:
* Tsuyoshi Tane (Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects)
* Catherine Gay (GayMenzel)
* Emanuel Christ (Christ & Gantenbein).
Paris, Monthey, Basel: the architects invited to discuss «Context, Pretext, Subtext» not only operate from very different locations in terms of culture, demographics, and density, but also divergent understandings about the notion of context. Inspired by Tsuyoshi Tane’s exhibition at the S AM, this event questions how context is understood in architectural discourse. Does context have to be exclusively defined in relation to an already existing physical fabric, or can it also be created through an interpretation of its spatial potential, which is yet to be articulated?
