Techniques to Foster Trusting Relationships in Crisis Settings
Facilitated by Patrice Penney, MSW, LISW, Survivors of intimate violence (such as domestic violence and sexual assault) often struggle with forming and keeping trusting relationships. This can make it difficult for service providers to connect with survivors in order to elicit information and deliver services that are meaningful, collaborative, and relevant. This webinar will discuss approaches and provide tools that victim service providers in multiple settings can use to help quickly establish rapport so that trust and safety can be built and maintained.

Objectives
Participants on this webinar will:
1. Explore the benefits and techniques of building trust in victim service settings from a trauma informed approach;
2. Improve tools for victim service providers to connect with survivors in a way that will minimize trauma and help to elicit relevant information;
3. Increase skills for working in a collaborative way with survivors of violence to minimize barriers and reduce the likelihood of the survivor shutting down.
