Presented by: Kelly L. Olson, Ph.D.

Amidst these unprecedented, evolving circumstances from the COVID-19 pandemic, research has identified areas where clinicians and public health officials can focus treatment and prevention efforts. As part of these evaluations, it has been found that a sustained increase in the likelihood of testing positive for non-prescribed fentanyl, cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine during the COVID-19 time period not only exists, but in some cases and in some census divisions around the country, have been steadily increasing. We will discuss these trends both before and after the declaration of COVID-19 as a national emergency.
