Advancements in Cancer Management: Approaches in Interventional Gastroenterology
The 5th annual Advancements in Cancer Management is an educational series designed to foster dialog between primary care providers (PCPs) and the oncology team, providing strategies that contribute to coordinated, multi-disciplinary care for patients with cancer.

In this episode of the series, Mani Mahdavian, MD and Pankaj Vashi, MD, discuss interventional gastroenterology, highlighting the latest research, recommendations and guidelines, for primary care providers.

After participating in this education, learners will be able to:

Mani Mahdavian, MD
Interventional Gastroenterologist @Lakeshore Gastroenterology & Liver Disease Institute
Dr. Mahdavian attended medical school at Shahid Beheshti university of Medical Sciences. During internship and residency he was Chief Resident at Edgewater Medical Center. After completing his fellowship in gastroenterology at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Dr. Mahdavian was a researcher and extensive lecturer in a variety of gastroenterology topics at Chicago Medical School and Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. He has been a co-author in a variety of publications and abstracts including the American Journal of Gastroenterology. He joined the Advocate Lutheran General Hospital's Department of Internal Medicine as Teaching Faculty in 2001 and later opening his practice in 2008. Dr. Mahdavian is a member of several gastrointestinal professional societies. He is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine.
Pankaj Vashi, MD, AGAF, FASPEN
Vice Chief of Staff - Chicago @Cancer Treatment Centers of America
A graduate of the University of Mumbai, India, Dr. Pankaj Vashi completed a residency program in internal medicine at Michigan State University and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Michigan. A member of the Society of Integrative Oncology (SIO), the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN), the American Gastroenterology Association (AGA) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), He serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of Home Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition and on the editorial board for Nutrition Journal, Scientific World Journal and Advances in Epidemiology. He is an active contributor to the Becker’s weekly review in Gastroenterology. Recently, he has become a Fellow of the American Gastroenterology Association as well as Fellow of ASPEN. He is also on the abstract review board for Clinical Nutrition Week, the largest Annual International Nutrition Conference. He is board certified in gastroenterology and internal medicine.
