Summary of module 4: Systemic racism in America is a public health crisis affecting Black people and minorities at disproportional rates of the United States population. Societal determinants contribute to this crisis -- places where people live, learn, work, play, social economics, limited access to health services, marginalized income, discrimination, and the diminishing lack of value on human lives. These determinants affect health outcomes and increase risk. Chronic diseases such as hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes and heart disease has highlighted the American health crisis in the disproportionate number of deaths for Black people in the Covid-10 pandemic. This Module on Health is to inform and broaden changes through the Black Church, its ministries, the general public, health-care system, and communities.
