Denise Hunter (she/her/hers)
Senior Staff Attorney @Whitman-Walker Health
Denise Hunter is a Senior Staff Attorney bilingual in Spanish, representing Whitman-Walker Health (WWH) patients in immigration, name change, and other related legal matters. She also provides training and mentoring to volunteer attorneys providing pro bono representation on immigration matters. Denise is a member of the AILA DC Chapter’s Pro Bono, Citizenship Day and Arlington Asylum Office Liaison Committees. Prior to joining WWH in 2015, Denise worked at Ayuda and Hogar Immigrant Services. She has also volunteered and interned with CLINIC’s BIA Pro Bono Project, CAIR Coalition, Human Rights First, Amnesty International of Poland, World Organization for Human Rights USA, and GW's International Human Rights Law Clinic. Denise received her law degree from George Washington University Law School and her bachelor’s degree from Wesley College. She is a member of the MD and DC bars.
Victoria Maqueda (she/her/hers)
Supervising Attorney @Ayuda
Victoria Maqueda is a Supervising Attorney at Ayuda- a non-profit immigration legal service provider working with low income immigrants in the DC, MD, and VA area. At Ayuda, Victoria represents clients seeking immigration benefits and deportation defense in front of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the immigration courts (EOIR). Through her time at Ayuda, Victoria has worked with many immigrant crime victims to seek protection and benefits including asylum, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, U-Visa, T-Visas and many more. Before working at Ayuda, Victoria did a one-year fellowship with the Santa Fe Dreamers Project in Santa Fe, NM serving both detained and non-detained clients.
