It often seems that two of the most common reasons why Housing First participants lose their housing are boredom and loneliness. At the very least these elements are connected. This leads individuals to gravitate to old habits and activities, or bringing those activities to their new home. This often results in eviction. Having strong social relationships and connections in the community established soon after housing can often mitigate this problem. In this CoP call Wally Czech, Director of training for CAEH will outline some key elements in the Housing First principle of Community and Social Integration which will then hopefully lead into a discussion amongst the participants about how this occurs in their programs or challenges they face in making this principle a reality.
