Welcome to the PAAM-Demic !
This is the 4th and last webinar in this series sponsored by Professional Arborist Association of Mississippi (PAAM).
This presentation focuses on one of the many uses for waste wood - growing an edible mushroom. Hardwood trees (oak, sweetgum, ash, maple, hickory) cut or chipped in the spring or fall are the perfect media for growing Shiitake mushrooms. Finding alternative uses for urban wood turns a 'trash product into a treasure'. Dr. Mrema will go through the process of converting wood cellulose into a delicious, human food.
Speaker: Dr. Frank Mrema, Assistant Professor of Forestry & Mycologist at Alcorn State University.
