Achieving high quality Spirometry data in hybrid and decentralized trials
The clinical trial environment is shifting from traditional studies towards virtual or decentralized solutions. While certain endpoints in respiratory trials are decentralized (i.e. PEF/FEV1/eDiary) they do not deliver the more advanced endpoints such as Forced Expiratory Volume in 1 second (FEV1), Forced Vital Capacity (FVC), FeNo or AOS. Mature and well-established technologies used at sites by experienced and well-trained researchers are indicators of a successfully executed trial. Since data quality is vital to both sponsors and CROs, the same high-quality data obtained at sites should be pursued when data is collected by the patients themselves.
