The webinar aims to identify the perception of cotutelle agreements (advantages, disadvantages, attractivity...), good practices and obstacles in the French-Swedish context in order to help further promote and facilitate its implementation.
This topic has been already addressed in previous bilateral events between France and other EU countries such as Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. Thus, this event is part of a broader approach.
Participants’ profile: heads of faculties, researchers, professors, administrative staff and doctoral students.
09:30 – Challenges and issues of a cotutelle between France and Sweden
In this first part, the speakers will shed light on the positive points and obstacles that faculties, administrative staff, researchers, professors and doctoral students are faced with when setting up a double degree PhD between French and Swedish higher education institutions.
10:30 – Cotutelle: an added value for all
In this second part, the speakers will discuss the advantages of a cotutelle on the job market, both for a career in research and in the private sector.
The double degree PhD, or cotutelle agreement, encourages the mobility of doctoral students between two countries (France and Sweden in our case) and boosts the scientific co-operation of the research teams involved. Indeed, the doctoral students in double degree PhDs carry out their work with two thesis supervisors, one from each team. After the thesis defense, they graduate with two doctoral degrees, one of each university.
