The APPG on Sustainable Finance and Financial Markets and Services APPG are delighted to invite you to the parliamentary launch of a new report ‘Financing climate action with positive social impact: how banks can support a just transition in the UK’ from the Grantham Research Institute at the London School of Economics.
Working in partnership with HSBC and UK Finance, the London School of Economics has undertaken research and dialogue right across the country. This webinar will present the report’s finding and recommendations, with a focus on how banks can scale up financing that brings together the green and social agendas alongside how the policy framework can enable this, not least in terms of recovery planning.
The UK can create a recovery out of the COVID-19 crisis that both accelerates progress to the net-zero economy of the future and at the same time, in ways that deliver real social benefits: high-quality jobs, community renewal and regional rebalancing. Finance will be critical to achieving this and in particular, how to mobilise private capital - notably from banks -to achieve a just transition.
