Depression in a Primary Care Setting
Description
This webinar will offer a high-level overview of depression, behavioral health and measurement-based care in a primary care setting. It will provide information to consider when screening, diagnosing and treating patients who have mental health conditions. It is open to all providers.

-Friday, June 18, 2021: 9:00 AM- 10:00 AM CST- Montana and New Mexico
Physicians (MDs and DO's, nurses, physician assistants, physical therapists and nurse practitioners can use AOA Cat 1-4 credit toward licensure. Psychologists, social workers and mental health counselors (LPC, LCPC, LPCC) can use the Social Work CEU credit toward licensure.
The New Mexico Osteopathic Medical Association (NMOMA) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. NMOMA designates this program for a maximum of 1 AOA Category 1-A credits and will report CME and specialty credits commensurate with the extent of the physician's participation.
Social Work CEUs Approved by NASW-NM. The Licensee must maintain proof of continuing education courses taken for the past four (4) years. The New Mexico Regulations and Licensing Department, Boards and Commissions, Social Work Licensing Board reserves the right to audit a licensee’s continuing education records as it deems necessary. This event has been approved for a total of 1 CEU.

After graduating from college at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, he completed medical school, along with a residency in psychiatry and a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine, at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago. He worked for approximately ten years as a psychiatrist in community mental health and private practice before transitioning to managed care. He is board-certified in both psychiatry and hospice and palliative medicine. Benji T. Kurian, M.D., MPH Benji T. Kurian, M.D., MPH. is an Executive Medical Director for the Risk Identification and Outreach (RIO) program at Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans in Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. RIO is a multi-disciplinary collaboration between Behavioral Health (BH), Medical, Pharmacy, and Clinical Data Technology groups, focused on mining data for at-risk member populations and implementing clinically appropriate interventions at both member and provider levels. RIO’s current focus is minimizing adverse risk associated with opioids for our members. Previously, Dr. Kurian was an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern, where he was an investigator for clinical trials in depression and anxiety disorders, as well as an active treatment provider for patients with treatment-resistant depression. He remains an Adjunct Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern.
