Kim Baber
Principal @Baber Studio
Kim Baber is a practicing Architect and a Fellow in Civil Engineering and Architecture at the University of Queensland. His architectural practice was recently awarded the Queensland ‘Emerging Architect’ Prize by the Australian Institute of Architects. Kim is also a recipient of the Gottstein Trust Fellowship, which he has used to research timber Architecture and fabrication technologies being developed in Europe. Kim is also a member of the UQ ‘Centre for Future Timber Structures’, and the Australian Research Council ‘Future Timber Hub’. Kim teaches and works on research projects with Architecture and Civil Engineering students, and his practice is involved in a range of projects adopting innovative timber structures at small and large scales.
Rob Mansell
Technical Sales Representative Business Development - GLT @XLam
Robert Mansell has been actively involved in the timber industry for 40 years. His career began in timber processing managing timber products from log form to finished products for local and export markets. Since then he has gained extensive knowledge and experience through different roles including truss and frame design, estimation and Engineered Timber Products. His current position is Business Development – GLT for Xlam Solutions. Robert has successfully managed the Hyne Design Software for the past 8 years, a Timber design Tool used by a wide market sector including Builders, Truss and Frame manufacturers, Timber Suppliers, Building Designs and Engineers. Robert has also been involved in numerous bespoke Glue Laminated Timber projects working with Hyne Timber and now sets his sights on growing the Mass Timber opportunities with Xlam, Australia and New Zealand’s leading Mass Timber Solution provider utilising CLT, Glulam and other ETPs and lightweight Systems.
