ECL Webinar| Occupational Health & the European Code Against Cancer
With more than 100,000 deaths per year, cancer is the number one work-related cause of death in the European Union. 53% of all work-related deaths are caused by occupational cancer. Asbestos, chromium VI and diesel exhaust engines are just some of the main carcinogens that can be found in the workplace. Ensuring adequate prevention strategies and protection measures for workers requires a EU-wide response, yet there are large differences in the level of protection of workers across Europe.

As part of a webinar series focusing on different messages of the European Code Against Cancer, the Association of European Cancer Leagues (ECL), the Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL) and the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) warmly invite you to tune in live for a special webinar on occupational health.

The webinar will cover the following:
• Introduction to occupational cancers
• Role of civil society in reducing work-related exposure risks
• Legislative and regulatory actions at the EU level to prevent exposure risks

Who’s speaking?
• Christos Tsagkaris, Youth Ambassador for the European Code Against Cancer, ECL
• Tony Musu, Senior Researcher, European Trade Union Institute
• William Tailler, Policy Officer (Chemicals at Work), DG Employment, European Commission
