ASCE’s Newest Sustainability and Resilience Resources
Description
ASCE has created numerous resources for engineers and infrastructure owners to require, develop, and track the performance of sustainable and resilient infrastructure.
This presentation explores the society’s foundation for sustainable practices, including the Sustainability Roadmap and relevant policy statements. Educational courses, including “Making the Case for Sustainable Infrastructure” and those in the “Sustainable Infrastructure Certificate Program” will be described.
Guides and manuals of practice will be presented, including the Envision rating system for sustainable infrastructure, the Sustainable Procurement for Infrastructure report, the Objective Resilience Manual of practice, and others.
Attendees will be able to describe the role and responsibility of engineers in sustainable development, locate and use new resources, and apply sustainable thinking in their projects.
Speakers:
• Denise Nelson, P.E., CFM, M.ASCE, ENV SP, LEED AP, Environmental, The Berkley Group; and serves on the ASCE Committee on Sustainability’s Advocacy and Communications Committee.
• Fariborz M. Tehrani, Ph.D., P.E., ENV SP, PMP, SAP, F.ASCE, Associate Professor, CSU and the Director of ESCSI; and serves on the ASCE Committee on Sustainability, as the Liaison of the ASCE Engineering Mechanics Institute.
