Join us for an event celebrating the publication of Joshua Beckman’s new book of poetry, Animal Days. Joshua will read from the book and dialogue with Olympia writer Alejandro de Acosta about the poems and the process of making the book.
Joshua Beckman was born in New Haven, Connecticut. He is the author of a number of books, including Animal Days (Wave, 2021), The Lives of the Poems and Three Talks (Wave, 2018), The Inside of an Apple, Take It, Shake, Your Time Has Come as well as a number of translations including Micrograms, by Jorge Carrera Andrade and 5 Meters of Poems by Carlos Oquendo de Amat, both done with Alejandro de Acosta.
Alejandro de Acosta is a teacher, writer, and translator in no particular order; he also works in publishing. His poetry translations include Micrograms by Jorge Carrera Andrade and Five Meters of Poems by Carlos Oquendo de Amat. In Austin, Texas he founded mufa::poema, a micropress that freely distributed a dozen poetry and prose chapbooks.
